Running a priated XP pro? Prepare to be nagged.
Antony Hatton

Running a priated XP pro? Prepare to be nagged.

After Vista Service Pack 1, defences against pirated versions of the Windows OS increased remarkably. The update made it so unregesitered versions of Windows would simply annoy you, by changing the background to a plain, black desktop - with a small message at the bottom reading "You may be a victim of software counterfeiting." Sure, you can change your background back to what it was before, but give it an hour, and it's doing it again.

This idea is now being developed for Windows XP Pro too, which according to MicroSoft, is the most pirated version of XP. The idea is pretty good, as it basically nags and annoys you into registering your copy. Luckily enough, the update will only affect XP Pro, so those of you running Home or Media Center Edition will be perfectly fine.
