Windows 7 Beta 1 is free next month

Windows 7 Beta 1 is free next month.
Back in October, Microsoft decided it was time to show off a pre-beta version of the new OS they plan to release next year at their Professional Developers Conference. 2 months down the line, and we get confirmation that Windows 7 Beta 1 will be ready by January. To make it better, the Beta is free for anyone who signs up and attends one of the upcoming MSDN meetings. However, this does bring bad news to many, as if we were to go by the same time line as Vista, we won't be seeing 7 in '09 after all. From the first release of Vista Beta 1, it took 13 months to release the full operating system, meaning if we do go by these times, we're looking and February 2010 when we can finally ditch Vista. Quite disappointing really...
