Bing - Does Microsoft really think this could beat Google?

Recently released was Microsoft's atttempt at a powerful search engine, but was it really worth all that effort? Could it really cause people to switch from their beloved search engine?

At first glance, it was nice. It was simple, easy on the eyes and everything was there. (By everything, I mean the exact same links Google has in a different order...) I must admit though, the white text on the background image (which is an image of mountains covered in snow) did make reading that little bit more tricky.

Searching however, is pretty much the same as Google, as both use the same "smart search" tool, meaning it will use what you've typed so far and find popular searches based around it. Bing, however, displays it's results a little bit differently to Google. When I typed "Facebook" and hit "Search," it only displayed one result, which was Facebook.com. On the left, it said "Related searches" which had the Login page, Home page, Welcome page and even a link to Myspace.

The structure and results do seem consistant with that of Google, but the real question is: Will Bing be the new Google? We can only wait and see, but if you want to give it a try, here's the link...
